Epic Games Acquires Interest in People Can Fly

Painkiller
One of the biggest news of the day was the announcement that Epic Games had acquired a majority stake in Polish video game developer People Can Fly. Both companies have been working together on the upcoming PC version of “Gears of War“, it was also revealed that both parties have been working on a new intellectual property that will be revealed at the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany this week.

The 20 member development team at People Can Fly first opened shop in 2002. The company was responsible for the critically acclaimed 2004 first person shooter “Painkiller” (click here to check out our review of the Xbox version of the title). It was recently announced that Painkiller would be made into a feature film, it was also revealed that another title in the franchise, dubbed “Overdose“, will be released later this year.

The news is pretty exciting for the gaming community as both companies have a keen interest in making high quality titles that are focused on gamer experience.
