Rez HD and Chestmaster Live Coming to XBLA

Rez HD (XBLA)

Microsoft announced that gamers will be receiving Q Entertainment’s eagerly anticipated “Rez HD” (pictured above) on Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) along with Ubisoft’s “Chestmaster Live.” Both of these titles will be available on XBLA on Wed. Jan. 30, 08 for 800 Microsoft points ($10.00 USD).

I didn’t get a chance to play Rez when it was originally released on the Sega Dreamcast so I look forward to playing this game in all of its rumble glory (check out this article by Kotaku for more info on the rumble features).

Mass Effect Turns Your Xbox Into a “Se”Xbox

Fox News recently ran a segment on the brief sex and nudity found in the Xbox 360 exclusive “Mass Effect“. The news agency claims that the title should have received an Adults Only rating from the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board). Recently Game Head’s (Spike TV) Geoff Keighley went on Fox News to defend the game and give his opinions about the inaccuracies pertaining to the original newscast. Below is a YouTube embed of the Keighley segment on the news program.

The disappointing aspect about all of this is the fact that the folks criticizing Mass Effect have never actually played the game.

Ex-Naughty Dogs Form Steel Penny Games

Former Naughty Dog (creators of the “Crash Bandicoot series and the “Jak and Daxter” franchise) employees Jason Hughes and Andrew Gilmour have opened up a new game development studio titled “Steel Penny Games”, which will focus on developing downloadable Nintendo Wii titles for the upcoming WiiWare channel. According to the press release, the new studio designed a proprietary engine that’s geared toward the Wii capabilities, and in the process creating a new intellectual property that will span a series of new titles for the console.

I am impressed with the egalitarian approach Nintendo has taken toward WiiWare developers. It allows the risk burden to shift back onto the creative developers,” explained Steel Penny Games president Jason Hughes.

The new title will blend fantasy themes with various puzzle elements. No word yet on when we can expect to play this title. WiiWare content is expected to launch within the next few months.
